Kratom is currently legal in Pittsburgh and throughout Pennsylvania; it is not scheduled as a controlled substance and is generally described by state and local sources as “unregulated.” State Senate Bill 233, a Kratom Consumer Protection Act that would add safety standards and a 21+ age gate, is pending but not in force. No evidence of any Pittsburgh municipal ban or special kratom ordinance was found.
